Head Landscaper & leader of the pack
Jared Volfsbergs runs the team here at Spruce, and brings 13 years of professional landscaping experience from the US and Australia to every project he touches. Nature and gardening are in his blood – he’s one of few tradies who love nothing more than coming home from a day in the garden to spend time working on his!
For Jared, gardening is a true profession. His values shine through in everything he does, from the quality of workmanship and how he connects with clients to little things like clearing up properly at the end of a project. This dedication has seen him earn press coverage in media publications and a notable reputation in the landscaping industry.
A devoted dad to daughter Zevee and his sons Taysh and Fenn, Jared is a true Melbourne boy with a place in his heart for the Carlton Blues (Who? I hear you ask! … Don’t hold it against him, but you have our permission to tease him mercilessly). He also plays a mean game of squash, is fiercely competitive and a true perfectionist. Jared will talk to anyone who listens about good food and growing tomatoes. In our minds, there’s no better bloke to head up the Spruce team – and our clients think so too.
The Lawn Ranger
Hailing from ‘up north in Sheffield, UK, Ryan is our very own master gardener and real-life Yorkshireman. He loves transforming ordinary spaces into amazing ones and never backs down from a garden makeover challenge, in fact he digs it (pun intended). He’s a proud dad of four young lads – two sets of twin boys(!) so hard work and juggling tasks is second nature. In his spare time, he’s partial to good ale, a round of golf and coaching the boys out at Sandringham Soccer Club. Still a Pommy at heart, Ryan refuses to accept having to say the word ‘soccer’ instead of ‘football’… there’s nowt so queer as folk!
Grape whisperer & Landscaping magician
Brenton’s our hard-working, passionate landscaper who leads the charge in our client’s garden transformations. A champion of the great outdoors, Brenton was a green thumb from an early age, from mowing lawns back in high school in Tocumwal, NSW to working in local nurseries, a eucalyptus farm and a large wholesale nursery in Melbourne.
We didn’t hire Brenton just for his super star skills and awesome team playing attitude, he is also a certified grape producer. Something important to have on hand! (Although he still prefers a beer over a glass of vino apparently… ) After studying viticulture and forging a successful career in the mining industry, he returned to his love for landscaping and we couldn’t be happier. He brings leadership, commitment and a strong work ethic to every project and the impact he makes must be seen to be believed.
It comes as no surprise that he loves watching renovation shows like The Block and when he’s not on the clock, he enjoys camping, playing golf and following the Geelong cats and spending time with his wife and 2 young boys in his own garden.
Woodwork Jedi Master
Ron, is a woodwork guru who excels with anything timber. From merbau decking to treated pine planter boxes and sturdy retaining walls, Ron is truly a master of his craft. Committed to the highest quality of workmanship, the origins of Ron are unknown. Some say he’s spent hundreds of years learning the secrets of fine timber, others that he was bestowed his gift from ancient Jedi carpenters. Either way, his precision and passion for woodwork are second to none.
Queen of the Diaries
As Admin Manager, Hana and her friendly team are the warm welcome on the phone when you call Spruce.
Hanna is a professor of efficiency, she manages to run our busy schedules, fit in our every client’s need and make sure our tradies all stay in line; all with a smile and an infectious laugh guaranteed to put some sunshine in our day.
Hanna’s knowledge of anything admin and trades related is out of this world. We’re pretty sure she’s some kind of superhero undercover.
Client Satisfaction Ambassador
Chloë is the heart of the Spruce brand and creator of our amazing client experiences. She cares deeply about nurturing relationships and discovering new ways to ‘wow’ our clients. From the first call to the inaugural barbie in your new garden, she makes sure to guarantee a positive experience each step of the way. Chloe brings 15+ years of marketing prowess to the Spruce team and plays Mum to 3 amazing little munchkins. She loves to laugh, could very happily live off potatoes (in any form) and is a self-professed fermented grape enthusiast. A guru in multitasking, by night you can find her watching pre-recorded shows of MasterChef or The Block, whilst wildly researching the latest interior and renno trends on instagram.
Big Barda of bookings
Your garden projects are in fine hands at Spruce with our admin star, Sarah.
A true country girl from Ballarat, when she’s not panning for gold (joking!) or sheep herding with her Border Collies (amazing!) she’s keeping all of your queries, quotes and bookings in check. She doesn’t mind the odd Marvel and DC flick, and a spot of travel – once jetting off to Bali just to go surfing on her own for a month. Jealous? Yes we are too!
Sarah brings 14 years of experience to Spruce from a range of industries – education, health and real estate to name a few, and she brings it all to our clients every single day. She’s a true ‘Wonder Woman’ (see what we did there), who’s a champion of your cause from the moment you meet, and understands your needs perfectly. That’s why we love her!
Originally from Leeds, England, Luke’s background is in construction working for a company that specialised in orangeries. He celebrated his graduation from sport and exercise science at Sunderland University with a trip down under for a dose of Aussie sunshine. Sailing, playing hockey and the occasional day in the pub, he’s a self-professed outdoors fanatic who loves to get his hands dirty and see our landscaping projects come to life.
Luke is a big sports fan and mad Leeds United supporter, (following them at both home and away matches!) and he’s also big into his music, often producing or dj’ing in his spare time.
